History/Bio:
Johnee's been in the independent Disc Jockey business for 7 years, but he is no stranger to the industry. He has been 'spinning records' since he was 8 years old in the mid-70's.

Inspired by legends, Kasey Kasem, Dick Clark and Wolfman Jack, Johnee decided he wanted to 'give it a spin' after hearing them play the hits on his transistor radio. Starting out on a Sears portable record player he received as a Christmas gift in his home 'studio' (aka. under the stairwell in his parents basement), Johnee played songs off his KISS, Foreigner and K-Tel compilation records to thousands of imaginary listeners, along with his biggest critics...his stuffed animals.

A few years later, he would learn about passion in music through playing guitar in 6th grade music class. That guitar playing only lasted about a year until he heard 'Crazy Train' on the radio and decided he wanted to be a bassist. That passion for the musical instrument would guide him the rest of his life.

In 2003, Johnee started working for a roller skating rink as a side job, not expecting to be cast into the entertainment spotlight a couple of weeks after starting his position with the company. It happened when the current DJ walked off the job in the middle of his gig, letting the song run into dead air. Johnee raced up to the DJ booth and took over, and for the next 18 months, would be the weekend DJ families (and staff) raved about when they and their children had such a great time.

That was a positive experience for him as it brought the joy of seeing people have fun and reminded him of what he set out to do as a kid...playing those 'hit' records. It also gave him a chance to fine tune his musical knowledge and build onto that strong outgoing personality and charm that he wears so well.

Currently, Johnee has established himself as the 'go-to' guy for the South Metro MN American Cancer Relay for Life events (5 years),  as well as entertaining local club guests at venues such as Champps Americana, Primetime Sports Bar, Black Dawg Bar & Barfly night club. He's entertained guests at numerous wedding receptions, corporate and private events. Over the past 5 years, Johnee has performed on-air skits for 101.3 KDWB's Dave Ryan in the Morning Show (101.3) as well as flirting with late night radio as a guest DJ on ROCK 100.3 in the late 90's in the Minneapolis market.

Most of his client base is around the Minneapolsi/St. Paul Metro area and Western Wisconsin, but will travel to meet the needs of his clients...because that is what customer service is all about.

Overview of a Disc Jockey

When planning a party, wedding, or any event, one of the most important elements is the entertainment. A Disc Jockey can be one of the best ways to entertain your guests. The right DJ can really make your event come alive! A DJ can provide entertainment that will keep your guests from leaving early and get them up and moving, dancing, mingling, and having fun.

With state-of-the-art sound equipment and dazzling lighting effects, a professional DJ can truly be the life of the party. Your Disc Jockey can not only provide the entertainment but also make sure your event goes without a Hitch to make your event one that will be remembered for years to come.

Hiring A Professional: MP3 Players vs. Professional DJ's:

I have read several articles encouraging Brides wishing to save a few dollars on their wedding, to use an MP3 player instead of hiring professional entertainment such as a Disc Jockey (DJ).  The assumption that an MP3 player is all any reception needs shows complete lack of knowledge of the wedding industry and sets up the bridal couple to have their once in a lifetime day completely ruined.   Long after it’s forgotten how much everything cost, how much the photographer was paid or how many courses the meal was, the reception memories will still be there. They are permanent and will never be erased.

Think about all the receptions you’ve gone to.  What do you remember?  The centerpieces?  The tablecloths?  The fun?  I’ll bet if you’ve ever heard bad entertainment that you don’t remember the name, but you do remember where you were when you heard it. Do you want the lasting memories of your reception to be where your guests (who gave you gifts) were entertained by an MP3 player pre-loaded with songs you like (and they’ve probably never heard of) or by a fantastic professional DJ who can read the crowd and intertwine what you like with what will get your guests feet moving.

All of the industry experts I know agree there are no second chances to capture a once in a lifetime moment.

Brides hire professional photographers to make sure their special day is captured in time. Think about those cherished wedding albums. The first half contains posed pictures while the second half of the album has photos of people having fun. Action photos of bouquets being thrown, loving looks during the first dance, a father’s wistful smile as he has his last dance with his daughter, friends linking arms and ‘high kicking’ to a special song, and special photos of guests dancing the night away as they celebrate

THERE IS NO MP3 PLAYER THAT WILL PROVIDE THE AMMUNITION FOR THESE PHOTOS.

It’s the DJ who does it.

An MP3 player is to a professional DJ as a disposable camera is to a professional photographer as fast food is to having the reception catered.

Consider this.  If the meal is late or not what it should be, the DJ will get your guests minds off of it.  If the photographer needs a special shot, the DJ will set it up.  If there are any special announcements, the DJ will make them. If it’s time to toss the bouquet or cut the cake or dance with the parents, the DJ will make sure the timing is right for the most impact.  If Uncle Bert wants to hear a special song, the DJ will play it.

THERE IS NO MP3 PLAYER THAT CAN DO THIS.

Choose your DJ by his/her personality and experience for the night of your life!
